Jaipur Pushkar Weekend Tour

A Jaipur Pushkar Day Tour is a wonderful way to explore two of Rajasthan's most iconic destinations in a single day. Both Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan, and Pushkar, a sacred town known for its temples and holy lake, offer distinct experiences. Here's an itinerary for a perfect one-day tour that covers both cities:

Morning: Departure from Jaipur

  • Start Early: Leave Jaipur in the early morning, around 6:30-7:00 AM, to make the most of your day. The drive to Pushkar takes around 2.5 to 3 hours (approximately 150 km) via NH 48, depending on traffic conditions.
  • Breakfast Break: Stop for a quick breakfast along the way to keep energized for the journey ahead.

Arrive in Pushkar

  • Pushkar is known for its spiritual atmosphere, beautiful lake, and famous Brahma Temple. Upon arrival, start your tour with a visit to the major attractions.

1. Pushkar Lake and Ghats

  • Pushkar Lake is the main attraction in the town. The lake is surrounded by 52 ghats (steps leading to the water), where pilgrims perform rituals and take a holy dip.
  • Explore the Ghats: Take a walk along the ghats, observe the rituals, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. You can also sit by the lake and meditate, as it is an important place for spiritual reflection.
  • Visit the Temples: Pushkar is home to over 400 temples, and the most famous one is the Brahma Temple, dedicated to Lord Brahma. Visit this unique temple, as it is one of the very few dedicated to Brahma in India.

2. Brahma Temple

  • The Brahma Temple is the most iconic temple in Pushkar. It is believed to have been built in the 14th century and is one of the oldest and few Brahma temples in the world. The temple's architecture is unique and stunning.
  • Offer Prayers: You can participate in the local rituals or just spend time admiring the intricate carvings and peaceful ambiance of the temple.

3. Explore Pushkar Bazaar

  • Take a stroll through the Pushkar Bazaar, a vibrant market filled with colorful stalls offering handicrafts, jewelry, clothes, and souvenirs. The market has a unique bohemian charm, attracting many foreign visitors.
  • Shopping: You can shop for local Rajasthani handicrafts, traditional textiles, and souvenirs. Don’t forget to bargain to get the best deals!

Lunch in Pushkar

  • There are plenty of restaurants in Pushkar that serve delicious local Rajasthani cuisine. You can try dishes like Dal Baati Churma, Gatte ki Sabzi, or opt for lighter options like cafe-style food. Many restaurants offer views of the lake, providing a relaxing atmosphere.

Afternoon: Return to Jaipur

  • Departure from Pushkar: After lunch, begin your journey back to Jaipur. Start around 2:30 PM to return to Jaipur by 5:30 PM.
  • Optional Stop: On the way back to Jaipur, you can stop at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah (about 30 minutes from Pushkar), a famous Sufi shrine if time permits and you are interested in exploring further.

Evening: Arrival in Jaipur

  • Reach Jaipur: By early evening, you will be back in Jaipur, with enough time to rest or explore the local markets and attractions if you still have energy.
  • Explore Jaipur: If time allows, you could visit popular evening spots like the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), Jantar Mantar, or shop at Johari Bazaar for jewelry.

Additional Tips:

  1. Comfortable Clothing: Wear comfortable shoes and clothing, as you will be walking a lot, especially around the lake and temples.
  2. Carry Water and Snacks: Keep water and some snacks on hand, especially for the journey between Jaipur and Pushkar.
  3. Plan for Weather: Depending on the time of year, Jaipur and Pushkar can get very hot during summer months, so carry sunscreen and a hat.
  4. Camera: The architecture and landscapes in Pushkar are stunning, so don’t forget your camera to capture the beauty of the town.
