Ana Sagar Lake is a magnificent artificial lake that is best visited during the evenings to catch a glimpse of the sunset. The construction of this took place under instructions of Anaji Tomar, who was the grandfather of Prithviraj Chauhan.

In fact, the lake is named after the king Anaji himself. The lake was founded during the 12th century, after a dam was built across the Luni River. The beautiful lake is surrounded by Daulat Bagh Gardens, and the Khobra Behroon temple.

The Lake is only 13 kilometres away from the city center. There is also an island in the centre of the lake and it is about 4.4 metres deep and spreads over an area of 12 kilometres.

4. Pushkar Lake

The next sightseeing place to visit in our one day tour is Pushkar Lake, which is located amidst the Aravalli ranges and is surrounded by 52 bathing ghats and over 500 temples. It is believed that the water of these ghats have medicinal values and can cure all the skin ailments.

Most of the ghats have been named after the kings who built them. There are a few exceptions like Brahma Ghat, which is named after Brahma, who is believed to have bathed here.

The Gau Ghat was renamed as Gandhi Ghat after Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were immersed at this ghat. The lake is visited by hundreds of devotees every day to take a dip in its holy waters.

Located in the oldest part of the city, the lake takes us back to the 2nd century BC. Taking a dip on the holy day of Kartik Poornima is considered equal to the benefits acquired by performing yagnas for several centuries.

5. Man Mahal

The Last stop in our one day trip from Jaipur is Jagatpita Brahma Mandir, the only temple in India that is solely dedicated to Lord Brahma, therefore it attracts lakhs of pilgrims every year. Originally built in the 14th century, the Brahma Temple is believed to be 2000 years old.

Initially constructed by the sage Vishwamitra, it went through renovation several times under Adi Shankara. The temple has been constructed using marble and enormous stone slabs and houses the images of Lord Brahma along with his two wives, Gayatri and Savitri.

The Holy Pushkar Lake flowing right in front of the temple adds to the temple’s sanctity. It is believed that worshiping Lord Brahma, who is rarely found, is equivalent to attaining liberation and hence must be visited by one and all.

8. Shopping

Popular places to go shopping in Ajmer are Naya Bazar, Dargah Bazaar, Mahila Mandi and Churi Bazaar where you can buy local handicraft works, costume jewellery and small souvenirs.
